Taro Patches..

Taro Patches, or as I will forever know them as, Teamwork patches.

Last class we helped prepare the ground for a new HPU taro patch.
I had a great time, I worked so hard, I even had a bruise in the palm of my hand from the stick, and a blister on my thumb!

I loved listening to the talk story even more than the actual work. I REALLY wish I came from such a culturally strong family and background as so many others in my class do. My family has it's traditions, but when I take a step back we do not have and Ethnic culture in which we really follow. I hope to change that, in addition to my family's traditions I am going to try and add a few new ones that reflect our ancetrial cutures. For example, my family tree is mostly French, British, with a tiny bit of German. My great great grandfather and my great grandfather both worked on the rail systems on my father's side. My mothers side has always worked in the Steel industry or Farming industry. My dad's dad was a carpenter, and a farmer. Which my brother and father have certainly continued the wood working talent. So this year in honor of the British side we are going to celebrate Boxing day, in honor of the French, we will celebrate Bastille Day, and  for the German we will do a chocolate calendar countdown to Christmas that many German children enjoy :)

I am excited to add these traditions and to enrich my own families culture a little more. :)

Religion

I missed last Thursday's class but I did get the email about the subject. Personally I hold no named religion, nor do I claim to be an atheist or agnostic. I do believe in things like Karma, and spirituality, faith, positive energy, and the human soul. I personally do not believe in heaven or hell but prefer to believe in reincarnation.

Wow this has been sitting in my draft box since Sept. 27th... dang :/
